Post holiday blues

I can't believe its already been over a week since I got back from my holiday to Hong Kong and Bali! Im definitely not keen on the cold weather and being back at work! -_- It was amazing to be back in Hong Kong for 3 weeks and just lazing around and munching away every day! Needless to say there was also a bit (just a little I swear :p) of shopping and sight seeing with my boyfriend.

The short trip to Bali was lovely and I really cannot wait to go back there! The weather was amazing, people were really nice and the beach was pure heaven!  I am already thinking about all the places I'd like to go to next time and all the activities I'd like to do! A bit of snorkelling and definitely to swim with the dolphins!!

Since being back I couldn't resist trying out the Mad Hatter's afternoon tea at the Sanderson Hotel link. I've tried to book this previously but was also too late as they get booked up pretty quickly!  The hotel is very modern and the decor is very contemporary and interesting.  The tea was served in the courtyard area which has heaters and side covers etc so it was very warm even though we were kind of sitting outside.

The afternoon tea set includes sandwiches, scones, cakes and a pot of tea to share. Given the name Mad Hatter's tea party, it was Alice in wonderland themed including pretty china and sugar cubes served in a music box.  The menu for the tea set was also listed inside a story book.  I was impressed with the sandwiches that were served but I found some of the cakes a little too sweet even for someone with a sweet tooth! The small bottle of 'Drink Me' potion was especially sweet with some passionfruit puree.  The melting mango cheesecake was nothing exciting and was just a little too sweet again.  My favourite was the 'Tick Tock' victoria sponge cake which was very tasty.  The set was enough for the 2 of us and we enjoyed the experience.  Just one thing though, the 'Jelly Wonderland' on the menu is basically a selection of jellies that is on a trolley near the entrance to the courtyard, no one actually told us it was there so we actually missed out on trying any as we only saw it as we were leaving! I would probably rate this tea set 7/10.

The tea set has given me a little more inspiration for my own cake themed jewellery, just need to find some time now to draw out the new ideas and turn them into real pendants!
